Arkas has announced that it would extend its fleet with six new-generation eco-design container vessels for $360 million, bringing the total number of vessels to 55 and TEU capacity to 112,230.
The company has obtained a long-term financing deal with CIMC Financial Leasing, allowing the firm to grow and revitalise its fleet.
Arkas, China Shipbuilding Trading Co, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard executives, and CIMC Financial Leasing officials inked a partnership agreement that includes the vessels, which are due to be delivered in 2028.
The Turkish shipping line initiated the purchase of six new vessels for $360 million.
These vessels, each with a capacity of 4,300 TEU, will be the highest-capacity vessels in Arkas’ fleet and will be acquired from China’s CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard.

Arkas Holding Chairman, Lucien Arkas, stated: “Now, for the first time in Turkey, we are ordering eco-design vessels from China. These environmentally friendly vessels will help us move closer to our sustainability goals by allowing us to carry more cargo with less fuel. This is a step toward both rejuvenating and expanding our fleet.”
