Arcadis has announced the successful application for two large scale projects at the Sao Luis Port Terminal, Brazil, for R$125 million (€37 million).
The company’s Brazilian subsidiary, Arcadis Logos, is expected to carry out the works which involve the expansion of port and stockyard facilities for one of Brazil’s largest mining companies.
Arcadis will provide project management in regards to the construction of a new deep sea bulk berth in order to increase iron ore stock and handling capacity.
The mining company has invested US$20 billion to carry out the project, with $11.582 billion put forward for the logistical expansion project.
By increasing port facilities, the mining company hopes to reach 230 million tonnes per annum in production rates.
Arcadis also hope to generate 275 jobs over the course of the construction.
Arcadis CEO, Manoel Antonio Avelino da Silva said that the company was “proud and honoured to have been chosen to collaborate on the management of such a strategic project”
