APM Terminals (APMT) and SANY Marine have signed a Master Framework Agreement for the supply of APMT with battery-electric terminal tractors.
Under the agreement, about 500 diesel-powered terminal tractors across APMT’s global network will be replaced by 2030.
This partnership highlights the role of the Zero Emission Port Alliance (ZEPA), co-founded by APMT in December 2023.

Olaf Gelhausen, COO of APM Terminals, said: “APMT is accelerating the decarbonisation of our operations through battery-electric equipment, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
“Standardising our equipment and scaling battery-electric solutions across our terminals is central to our strategy to reach net zero.”
Jeff Fu, CEO of Sany Marine, stated: “It is our largest global electric terminal truck order to date, and we are proud to support APMT with comprehensive, low-carbon solutions that enable faster progress towards fully decarbonised terminal operations.”
Just recently, APMT Pier 400 deployed the largest fleet of electric terminal tractors (ETTs) in the Port of Los Angeles. The ETTs were delivered with training coordinated in partnership with electric vehicle manufacturer Orange EV and labour and maintenance partner Pacific Crane Maintenance Company (PCMC).
