An emergency response crew has been called to tackle a fire reported in the cargo hold of a Gibraltar-flagged vessel in Warrenpoint Harbour.
According to gCaptain, the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority Port Control was contacted by the captain of the ship reporting that the animal feed cargo was overheating.
Units were deployed from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who stabilised the area by implementing a safety perimeter around the vessel.
Firefighters then discovered two fires within the feed.
The BBC has reported that firefighters flooded the grain with carbon dioxide to put the flames out.
The ship reportedly arrived from Riga, Latvia.
The local fire service reported that there was no risk to life or the local environment.
