LED lighting specialist AAA-LUX has provided the Rietlanden Coal Terminal in the Port of Amsterdam with a 45-metre-high LED lighting solution.
Jeroen van Bakkum, the Operational Director of Rietlanden Coal Terminal commented on the importance of quality lighting, saying: “Safety of our employees is very important to us.
“Large cranes and caterpillars drive around the terminal day and night to load and off-load carriers. It is important to the drivers that the terminal is well-lit, so that they can see their colleagues clearly, as well as see where they are going.
“Employees who visited this marshalling yard were really impressed by the quality of light that illuminates the area. They also noticed that the LED light didn’t negatively affect employees or cause glare, as is often claimed about lighting.”
Jeron van Bakkam stated that the installation at Rietlanden Terminal is only the first step in a bigger plan:
“The washing bay and parking areas are now also illuminated by LED floodlights. Our next step is to phase out all conventional floodlights and have them replaced by LED floodlights. We will, therefore, continue to invest in more LED floodlights for economic reasons, but also to improve employee satisfaction.”
