Norway’s ECOnnect Energy has signed an agreement with Sociedad Portuaria Puerto Bahía S.A., a majority-owned subsidiary of Frontera Energy Corp, to deliver its IQuay™ F-Class jettyless transfer system.
The system will be deployed for a fast-tracked LNG import terminal in Cartagena Bay, Colombia.
The project will integrate ECOnnect Energy’s proprietary F-Class transfer technology with a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), forming a new LNG import gateway aimed at strengthening Colombia’s energy security and supporting rising domestic demand, particularly during periods of low hydropower generation.
First gas is targeted for early 2027, with project partners prioritising rapid deployment and operational readiness.
Located in Cartagena Bay, Puerto Bahía will become Colombia’s second LNG import terminal on the Caribbean coast, complementing existing infrastructure and expanding national import flexibility.
ECOnnect Energy’s IQuay™ F-Class system will enable LNG transfer between the FSRU and onshore receiving facilities without the need for conventional jetty construction, reducing offshore works and marine intervention.

The approach is intended to accelerate delivery timelines while lowering the environmental footprint associated with traditional LNG terminal development.
