All ports in Japan will close on 17 April as the country enters “Shunto”.

During the period, a series of negotiations will commence between employees via unions and their employers in regard to wages.

The nation-wide strike is fronted by the National Federation of Dockworkers Union of Japan.

The organisation is expected to enter discussions with the Japan Harbor and Transportation Association in the next few days.
