Aidrivers and ZF have announced a strategic partnership to enhance autonomous mobility solutions in port logistics.
This collaboration will focus on retrofitting terminal tractors for autonomous operations, integrating ZF Mobility Solutions’ engineering services with Aidrivers’ autonomous driving (AD) software ecosystem.
The demand for autonomous and emission-free goods handling is increasing in major ports worldwide, where vehicles are operated continuously and mostly manually. This partnership aims to address these needs by leveraging the strengths of both companies.
Aidrivers, known for its AI-enabled autonomous mobility solutions, will supply the AD software ecosystem. ZF Mobility Solutions will handle the integration, validation, and deployment of these systems.
The retrofitted vehicles will be capable of operating in mixed traffic conditions without requiring special lanes, thereby enhancing terminal safety and efficiency.
“Based on our long-term expertise in autonomous driving systems, we are delighted to now also operate successfully on the market as a mobility solutions provider,” said Alexander Makowski, Head of ZF Mobility Solutions.
“In addition, we will leverage the ZF Group’s entire expertise in vehicle technology, for example in the electrification of the drivetrain and vehicle motion control. And together with our global aftermarket organisation, we will provide state-of-the-art customer service directly on site.”
