Aidrivers and Terberg Tractors Malaysia (TTM) have successfully completed Phase 2 of their autonomous operations capability demonstration at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP).
The move marked a significant step forward in the integration of autonomous technology into port operations.
Building on the success of Phase 1, the partners extended the demonstration by conducting more rigorous tests in yard and wharf operations, utilising TTM’s Drive-by-Wire ready diesel terminal tractor and Aidrivers’ autonomous software solutions.
TTM CEO, Boo Wei Ching, said: “Our mandate is to stay ahead of the available technology and develop solutions that are readily deployable by our customers. We are committed to offering the most reliable solutions and are open to collaborations to stay at the forefront.”
The live autonomous operations deployment in Phase 2 was carefully assessed and validated by Hamburg Port Consultants (HPC) to ensure safety and efficiency. The positive outcomes prompted further testing and integration with PTP’s existing infrastructure.

The autonomous terminal truck operations at PTP, Malaysia’s largest transshipment hub with a capacity of 13 million TEU annually, included end-to-end autonomous port operations between the yard and wharf. Regular engagements with stakeholders ensured the successful commissioning of Aidrivers’ autonomous software for future scale-up implementations.
“Aidrivers is proud to lead the charge in port automation,” said Dr Rafiq Swash, CEO of Aidrivers.
“Our successful Phase 2 demonstration exemplifies our commitment to integrating AI solutions with advanced terminal tractors. We are poised to scale live autonomous deployments, driving efficiency and sustainability in port operations, and pioneering transformative advancements in the maritime industry.”
