AD Ports receives ISO certification for management of medical devices

AD Ports Logistics (ADPL), a subsidiary of AD Ports Group’s Logistics Cluster, has received the International ISO Certification for its integrated end-to-end supply chain management services covering medical devices.

With this latest ISO award issued by Bureau Veritas, ADPL becomes one of the first service providers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be fully accredited for supply chain management services covering medical devices, equipment, and consumables.

The certified services include, import, export, transport, storage, warehousing, freight forwarding, distribution and value-added services.

ADPL has also received the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) award – against the European Union (EU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This recognition bolsters the organisation’s position as a global provider of specialised healthcare business services, said the company.

The services include, logistics and supply chain management, quality management and pharmacovigilance, regulatory compliance, commercial and trading, market access, and value-added services.

“As the demand for extensive, specialised and increasingly complex healthcare supply chains grows, healthcare logistics service providers will need to continue making strategic investments in infrastructure, technology, procedures and expertise in order to stay ahead of the curve,” said Robert Sutton, Chief Executive Officer of the Logistics Cluster, AD Ports Group.

“By securing this important international certification, our team at AD Ports Logistics, serving both the healthcare and life science sectors, is demonstrating our steadfast commitment to supply chain excellence and is contributing to Abu Dhabi’s position as a world-class life science logistics hub.”

As part of the certification process, Bureau Veritas evaluated several ADPL’s activities – including handling processes, business continuity planning, cold chain management, competency of staff, and training standards.

Last week, AD Ports and Hayat Biotech signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support Hayat Biotech’s global logistics and distribution efforts through AD Ports Group’s advanced pharma logistics network.

The partnership will help facilitate Hayat Biotech’s efforts to set up manufacturing centres around the globe and provide logistics solutions to serve its international markets.
