ACPA appoints new chair of the board
The Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) has announced the appointment of Ms. Sylvie Vachon as its new chair of the board for 2013-14.
Following three days of networking and discussions on the future of the Canadian maritime industry at its annual conference and AGM in Nanaimo, BC, Vachon, president and chief executive officer of the Montreal Port Authority (MPA), was unanimously elected by the ACPA’s board of directors as its new head of operations.
Vachon brings to the task extensive experience in the maritime sector, having joined the Montreal Port Authority in 1990 as chief, human resources and quickly advanced to become, successively: director, human resources; vice- president, human resources; and vice-president, administration and human Resources. She then managed numerous departments spanning all aspects of port administration before assuming the duties of acting president and CEO at the MPA in March 2009. Ms.Vachon was named permanent president and CEO in August 2009.

Bernie Dumas, president and CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority, was also selected as the incoming vice-chair of the board, while Pierre Gagnon, president and CEO of the Port of Sept-Iles, was also appointed as incoming corporate secretary/treasurer following a year-long hiatus.
