Associated British Ports (ABP) and Viterra have announced the development of a new storage facility at the Immingham International Terminal (HIT).
The £10 million ($12 million) project will increase existing capacity by 40,000 metric tonnes (MT), bringing the total to over 80,000 MT of hidden storage.
The new facility is intended to meet Viterra’s rising demand for efficient and dependable storage options, catering to a variety of imported goods.
Andrew Dawes, Director of the Humber ports, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Viterra on this significant project. This new warehouse adjacent to deep water berths, will not only increase our storage capacity for Viterra, but also reinforce our position as a leading UK port for the import and export of Agri-Bulks.”

James Maw, Managing Director for Viterra, added: “This investment is a testament to our dedication to providing top-tier services to our clients. The new facility will enable us to better serve our customers and meet the increasing demand for high-quality storage solutions.”
The Port of Immingham is positioned in north Lincolnshire and is the largest port in the UK in terms of tonnage; its role is critical in supporting UK supply networks for imports and exports throughout Europe and beyond.
Construction on the shed began in September 2024 and is projected to be completed by the summer of 2025.
In October, ABP acquired 21 acres of land on the western side of the Port of Immingham in an off-market transaction.
