A port training institute is to be set up in Tema, Ghana, to assist staff with the day-to-day activities of ports (citi fm online).

The move was approved by the Netherlands government and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) who together signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the training institute to proceed.

A seminar was organised prior to the signing by the GPHA and Ports Development Partnership (PDP) Africa-Netherlands on sustainable port development.

The purpose of the seminar was to highlight the importance of port development and kick-start the knowledge exchange needed to grow the maritime and transport sectors in Ghana.
