2050 Maritime Innovation Hub launches Maritime Innovation Week

The 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub, involving the Port of Tyne, has launched the Maritime Innovation Week (MIW) was created to help ports across the UK achieve their target goals.

A free to attend, four-day conference for the whole maritime supply chain, Maritime Innovation Week will go beyond a discussion of Maritime 2050 challenges and take a proactive approach to delivering viable and innovative solutions.

The event takes place in Newcastle and London from 13-16 June 2022. Each day of will explore a different theme crucial to the fulfilment of Maritime 2050 strategy.

Maritime Innovation Week will challenge traditional approaches and showcase the very best of Industry 4.0 thinking and action for maritime applications.

The event brings together some of the most innovative minds from both inside and outside the maritime, to provide insights and collaboration opportunities across many of the industry’s most pressing topics.

The event will follow a different theme each day:

•           Clean Maritime Innovation – showcasing ongoing developments in decarbonisation whilst delivering cross industry insights and collaboration opportunities to drive the net zero agenda.

•           Fit for the Future – exploring the digital skills required to thrive in the maritime industry of the future.

•           Investing in Maritime’s Digital Future – highlighting the role of digital innovation in the Green Industrial Revolution and in positioning the UK as a world leader within the maritime industry.

•           Learning from the Cutting Edge – Sharing insights from those continuously on the cutting edge of technology on making space for R&D, fostering innovation, and tackling technology transfer. 

Confirmed speakers include Robert Courts Minister for Maritime, Lord Grimstone, Minister for Investment, the UKSHORE team as well as industry pioneers Equinor, Rolls Royce, Artemis Technologies, leading US aerospace experts, and more.

Maritime Innovation Week is being delivered by the Maritime 2050 Innovation Hub at Port of Tyne, alongside event partners; Department for Transport, Connected Places Catapult, Maritime UK, the British Ports Association, Digital Catapult, the North East England Chamber of Commerce and in conjunction with London Tech Week.
