1-Stop Connections (1-Stop), a port productivity specialist, has created new technology able to “revolutionise the coordination of container movements in the supply chain”.
According to the company, its electronic gate and inventory management solution called 1-Stop Modal is able to “harmonise the way container yards, depots, intermodals, shipping lines, terminals, carriers and rail operators operate”.
1-Stop has addressed what it views as one of the biggest issues facing the supply chain industry today by reducing data entry through linking and sharing information and cutting queue times at terminals by half.
In some cases it has eliminated the problem altogether.
1-Stop has reported that 1-Stop Modal has caused truck turn times at some terminals to drop from 91 minutes to 37 minutes and in some cases an average of 15 minutes has been achieved.
Improvements are also visible in dwell times with reductions of up to 30% in the first two weeks of operation.
Terminals have also found that there has been a 35% increase in truck servicing in the first four weeks of implementation and trucking companies are also experiencing up to five times more utilisation per truck.

1-Stop’s Modal is one of several new solutions that will be rolled out over the next 18 months connecting and co-ordinating the logistics chain to make life simpler for the industry.
One facility is already using 1-Stop Modal with more customers expected to be using Modal by the end of 2017.
