The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and RINA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a technology demonstration centre and collaborate on maritime innovation, digitalisation, decarbonisation, and talent development.
The MoU was signed on 5 November 2025 by Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive of MPA, and Carlo Luzzatto, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of RINA.
The new technology demonstration centre will form part of RINA’s Open Innovation Hub in Singapore.
It will serve as a collaborative platform to co-develop and test new solutions in maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation, support the development of remote and smart maritime systems, and provide integrated platforms to validate and deploy emerging technologies in real-world operations.

The partnership will also enhance collaboration with Singapore’s research community, supporting the adoption of technologies such as smart ships, low-carbon marine fuels, battery systems, and digital port solutions.
These efforts aim to strengthen Singapore’s maritime innovation ecosystem and accelerate the sector’s transition towards more efficient, digital, and sustainable operations.
In addition, RINA will work with MPA to advance maritime workforce development through participation in manpower initiatives, as well as education, training, internship, and scholarship programmes.
These initiatives will help equip future maritime professionals with the skills required for digital transformation and the low-carbon transition.
