Lloyd’s Register (LR) and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have concluded a wide-ranging training and advisory initiative to strengthen skills, leadership and operational performance across Saudi Arabia’s ports.
The programme, which ran over six months from June to early December, culminated in a certificate presentation ceremony at Mawani’s headquarters in Riyadh.
A total of 140 Mawani employees were formally recognised after completing a series of bespoke courses developed and delivered by LR’s advisory and training teams.
In total, 39 tailored courses were provided to senior managers and technical specialists, making it the most extensive single-client training programme LR has delivered within such a compressed timeframe.

The content of the courses was shaped jointly by LR and Mawani to reflect the operational realities of Saudi ports while aligning practices with international standards.
Areas of focus included leadership capability, technical proficiency, safety management and operational efficiency, all intended to support improved performance and competitiveness across the national port network.
The training initiative forms part of a broader contract under which LR is supporting Mawani with advisory services designed to enhance operational efficiency and global connectivity.
Both organisations have indicated that the relationship is expected to continue, with further capability-building and advisory programmes under consideration.
