The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT), the flagship facility of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), handled a record 3 million TEUs in 2025 — the first time it has reached that volume in a single year.
The milestone container was processed on 22 December during the call of the container vessel Ever Bliss, operated by Evergreen Marine Corp., carrying cargo for Universal Robina Corp.
MICT Chief Executive Officer, Christian Lozano, said the result demonstrated the terminal’s ability to manage higher volumes while maintaining service levels.
“Handling 3 million TEUs shows how the MICT has kept pace with rising demand through continued operational improvements and capacity expansion,” he said.
The increase was supported by continued investment in equipment and infrastructure, including hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, additional terminal tractors, and the initial deployment of electric terminal tractors under the terminal’s modernisation programme.

Construction of the eighth berth is under way, comprising a 300-metre quay and a 12-hectare combined quay-yard development, with 6.5 hectares already operational.
With a 15-metre depth, Berth 8 will accommodate vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs, with three quay cranes scheduled for delivery in 2027.
Once completed, the expansion is expected to raise MICT’s annual capacity to 3.5 million TEUs.
Lozano added: “Our priority is to deliver consistent and efficient service to customers and ensure cargo continues to move reliably as volumes grow.”
In September, ICTSI expanded its flagship MICT fleet with the addition of eight hybrid RTGs.
