DP World has signed a new agreement with Wan Hai Lines to introduce a new Far East–Eastern Mediterranean shipping service at its Körfez terminal in Türkiye.
The service, known as FM1, will provide direct shipping connections between ports in China, Southeast Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean via the Suez Canal, offering faster transit times on these routes.
FM1 is expected to visit the Körfez terminal on a weekly basis, with ships that can carry between 4,300 and 6,500 containers. The first vessel, the Wan Hai 513, made its inaugural call on 23 October 2025.
Wan Hai Lines, headquartered in Taiwan, is a leading name in Intra-Asia trade.
In recent years, the company has grown to become the 11th largest container shipping line in the world. The FM1 service is only the second route in its network to connect directly to European ports.

Earlier this week, DP World launched its Port Community System (PCS) in Kenya, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to enhance trade efficiency and transparency.
