COSCO SHIPPING LINES and the CMA CGM Group are closely monitoring developments in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Middle East as escalating regional tensions disrupt maritime traffic.

Both companies emphasise that the safety of crew, vessels, and cargo remains their foremost priority amid ongoing security concerns.

COSCO has instructed vessels already in the Gulf to complete operations where safe and move to sheltered waters to anchor or hover, while ships bound for the region are prioritising navigational safety, including speed reduction, diversion to secure areas, or waiting at designated anchorages.

The company is also reviewing contingency plans for cargo aboard affected vessels, including the possibility of alternative discharge ports, in line with its Bill of Lading provisions.

Similarly, since 28 February, CMA CGM has fully mobilised its teams in response to the rapidly evolving situation.

All CMA CGM vessels operating in the Gulf have been instructed to proceed to shelter, and the company has suspended transits through the Strait of Hormuz and Suez Canal until further notice.

Operational and security teams are monitoring developments in real time, coordinating closely with authorities, and are prepared to take additional action to safeguard crews, employees, and customer cargo.

Both carriers’ measures reflect an industry-wide focus on safety and operational resilience as tensions in the Middle East continue to affect one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors.

Evergreen Marine is taking similar measures, actively managing operations in the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz, prioritising crew safety, secure vessel navigation, and the protection of customer cargo amid regional tensions.
