Circle S.p.A. (CIRCLE) has announced the successful progress of its GOS – Gate Operating System project to automate the gate at Grendi Trasporti Marittimi’s terminal in Marina di Carrara.
Grendi Trasporti Marittimi is a B Corp™ certified company of the Grendi Group. The project has been implemented by Circle Group through eXyond and Aitek.
The project represents a new step forward in the digitalisation and optimisation of port logistics processes. The system, based on the Sesamo Gate platform with eXyond GOS integration, enables fully automated management of incoming and outgoing flows, improving operational efficiency, goods traceability and port area security.
Thanks to the use of cameras and smart sensors, the gate can automatically recognise number plates, container codes and driver badges, recording and storing transit information in real time.

All operations are coordinated by a central system that allows remote monitoring of vehicle movements and immediate and secure management of any exceptions. The technical testing, which took place in November 2025 at the Grendi Trasporti Marittimi terminal in Marina di Carrara, had extremely positive results.
The system confirmed the full functionality and reliability of the solution, which integrates natively with the port operator’s information systems and allows for the automatic detection of vehicles, drivers and UTIs entering and leaving the terminal.
Finally, the technology implemented meets the criteria of the Transition Plan 4.0/5.0, falling within the category of high-tech intangible assets capable of promoting the interconnection and digitalisation of logistics processes.
With this new milestone, Circle Group consolidates its role as a leading technology partner for the digital transformation of Italian logistics and ports, making a concrete contribution to the efficiency and sustainability of the supply chain.
