Adani Krishnapatnam Port hits record 59.22 MMT
Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited (AKPL) handled its highest-ever annual cargo volume in the 2025-26 financial year, processing 59.22 million metric tonnes (MMT).

The figure marks an 8 per cent increase compared with the previous year.

AKPL also reported its highest monthly cargo volume since the port began operations, handling 5.85 MMT in June 2025. Over the course of the year, the port said it handled 1,071 vessels.

According to the company, the result was supported by a combination of operational performance, infrastructure, technology adoption and coordination across port activities. It also said cargo diversification contributed to the growth, with laterite, soda ash, rock phosphate and yellow peas added to the mix during the year.

The port stated that its operations were supported by higher berth occupancy and seamless vessel handling, alongside safety and emergency response measures. It added that it had optimised its ability to handle five deep-draft Capesize vessels at the same time, which it described as the highest such capability in India.

AKPL said a series of operational measures helped improve efficiency, including lower turnaround times, reduced berth delays and improved productivity indicators. According to the company, these changes supported faster vessel handling and higher throughput.

The company also pointed to ongoing capacity augmentation work, including improvements to storage facilities and road connectivity, aimed at supporting cargo evacuation and better capacity utilisation.

On the rail side, AKPL said it dispatched 6,006 rakes during the year, which it described as the highest figure since the port’s inception.

In recent news, Adani Group announced one of the world’s largest integrated energy-compute commitments, a direct investment of $100 billion to develop renewable-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035.
