Transas China supplies VTS system to China Ministry of Transportation Feb 15, 2010 Transas China supplies VTS system to China Ministry of Transportation The Chinese Ministry of Transport have contracted Transas China for the supply, installation and commissioning of a Navi-Monitor system.

This is the first VTS Transas sold in mainland China and also means a significant step to further progress in China shore base system market.

China VTS is a comprehensive system including one radar, three VHF base stations, one automatic identification system (AIS) and two sets of ECDIS. The operator centre is run by Design Institute from Ministry of Transportation and is located in Daxing County, near Beijing.

The contract represents a significant progress Transas made in China VTS market. One of the major contributory factors that helped to secure this contract for Transas was the inclusion of its tried and tested Navi-Monitor software, and the powerful radar processor system. Transas Navi-Monitor is currently being used by more than 100 authorities, ports and harbours around the world.

Intermodal transportation: The next wave?Holidays are almost over, for those lucky enough to go on vacation. I spent my time away from the sea, and well above sea level. Just for reassurance. As you might know, the majority of Dutch grounds are below sea level (about 65%), and we keep dry feet by pumping water. Without that, we would build our sandcastle around "Amersfoort at the Sea" (a city some 80km inland). However, spending time in the Alps, some 800m above sea level, my rectangular box driven mind did not come to a complete standstill, wondering about hinterland transportation.
