Feb 03, 2010 New Wilhelmsen Ships Service office opens in Russian Baltic port Wilhelmsen Ships Service has opened an office at the port of Primorsk, on the Russian Baltic Sea.

The company started providing its broad range of agency services there in December 2009.

Primorsk Oil terminal is the final point of the Baltic Pipeline System operated by the state entity Transneft. At present, up to 65 million tons of crude oil are shipped out of the port annually, with oil delivered from the Timano-Pechorskoye oil field as well as from various fields of West Siberia and the Urals.

“We have been covering operations in this port for some time from our St Petersburg base,” said James Parsons, Area Director Eastern Europe, in a press release.

“However, with increasing business in this area, we believe it is essential to be placed in a position where we can give the level of service that our customers demand in this important port.”

Wilhelmsen Ships Service supplies Unitor marine products, technical services, ships agency services and maritime logistics.

Without that, we would build our sandcastle around "Amersfoort at the Sea" (a city some 80km inland). However, spending time in the Alps, some 800m above sea level, my rectangular box driven mind did not come to a complete standstill, wondering about hinterland transportation.
