(Video) Panama Canal Update: March 2015

A video released by the Panama Canal on March 12, 2015 provides the March update of the Panama Canal Expansion programme.

Around 36,000 men and women have come together to construct this new trade lane which aims to create a third lane of traffic via a new set of locks, thereby increasing the waterway’s total capacity.

The canal is now 86% complete and remains on track to be completed in early 2016.

Panama’s performance has been bolstered recently by the 7% increase in trade volumes that occurred as a result of the US West Coast labour dispute.
