The Port Authority of Guam Board of Directors today heard an update on the Port Modernization Plan, including the procurement of new gantry cranes.
A bill recently passed by the Legislature has allowed the procurement process to be waived and is expected to be signed by the Governor soon, according to this report from the island's Pacific News Center channel
The port is required by law to purchase the cranes by December of 2012.
The Port's moderization plan is also progressing, pending an Environmental Assessment expected to go before the public and other stakeholders in the next 90 days.
