The agreement, which came into effect on 1 November 2008, covers the full range of THM systems and equipment including quick release hooks, docking aid systems, load monitoring systems, environmental monitoring systems and capstans.
THM Managing Director Simon Wilson said the agreement became necessary because of the development of mooring systems.
“With mooring systems becoming increasingly complex, we recognised that access to reliable, timely service was important to our customers. Having a local service agent increases service levels, offers our customers greater peace of mind and ensures minimal equipment down-time,” he said.
“We are therefore very pleased to have made this agreement with Evans Hamilton. EHI’s expertise in maintaining and servicing marine equipment will deliver very high levels of service to our North American clients. Their track record in the marine industry and experience with complex systems is one of the main reasons we elected to bring them on board.”
EHI President Jeff Cox said: “EHI is excited to be THM’s service agent for North America. Our field personnel are highly experienced in troubleshooting and repairing marine instrumentation and communication systems. We have worked with a number of LNG terminals over the past several years and are therefore familiar with many of THM’s client sites and conditions.”
The rapid growth in demand for Trelleborg mooring equipment in the USA meant that new service arrangements needed to be put in place. The agreement with EHI has resolved those issues for THM and also established local service expertise for client sites in the USA. Response times to site are expected to be cut significantly.
In accordance with the agreement, Trelleborg will maintain stocks of spare parts at key locations to ensure the delivery time to customers is kept to a minimum.
