Given the recent situation in Crimea, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called to strengthen the capacity of Russian ports and take advantage of Crimean port terminals.

Speaking at a recent conference, Putin emphasized that it is important to increase the ports’ capacity, speed up cargo handling and delivery, and thereby create more job openings.

Putin also mentioned that there had been a thorough renovation and expansion of Russian port infrastructure.

The president said: “Existing and planned port terminals of Crimea and Krasnodar Territory should complement each other. At the same time, each port’s advantages and every logistics centre should be fully used.

“In this respect, we should determine the capacities that should be developed in Crimea and those that should be developed in Krasnodar Territory.”

Projects to create logistics centres that adhere to an international standard have already been launched in Krasnodar.
