Container cargo volumes at the Port of Los Angeles have increased by 9% in September, 2014 on the previous year.

Total cargo for the month was around 770,000 TEU, making it the busiest single month at the port since August 2006, according to Fruit Net.

Container imports increased by a total of 11%, from around 370,000 TEU in September 2013 to more than 400,000 TEU in September 2014.

For the first nine months of the 2014 calendar year, the overall volume of 6.3 million TEU had increased 7.8% compared to the same period in 2013, which totalled around 5.8 million TEU.

The volume increase reflects larger vessels calling at the port and peak season volumes.
