Kalmar, part of Cargotec, and the Yilport Oslo Terminal Investments AS in Norway, have signed a long term service agreement for Kalmar Optimal Care.

The order was signed on February 1, 2016 and the Kalmar services team has already started working at the terminal.

Based on the agreement, Kalmar has full responsibility for all maintenance activities at the terminal, including maintenance management, service execution, logistics, spare part warehousing and 24/7 support.

The fleet at the Yilport Oslo includes eight Kalmar E-One2 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, one Kalmar ship-to-shore (STS) crane, three Konecranes STS cranes and Kalmar mobile equipment.

As part of the agreement, Yilport Oslo leases two Kalmar reach stackers with the K-Motion technology and two reach stackers for empty container handling.

Kalmar earlier delivered eight zero emission semi-automated RTG cranes, which play a significant role in boosting the port's capacity.

According to the plans, container throughput at the terminal will increase from 210,000 to 450,000 TEU annually.

Bredo Steen-Gundersen, Service Operation Manager at Kalmar Norway, said: “Together with Yilport Oslo, we are now establishing world-class service partnership which goes the extra mile to make their terminal operation a true success in Oslo.

“Our Kalmar Care team is experienced in servicing automated and semi-automated terminals and can assure smooth operations also at Yilport Oslo Terminal. We will make sure that the terminal can focus and expand on their core, i.e. moving containers and we will take care of the rest.”

Eryn Dinyovszky, General Manager for Yilport Nordic Region, said: “Kalmar Care solution is nicely tailored to fit our needs and the framework of the contract gives us the ability to work together openly towards building this service partnership.

“We see value in this approach and have the confidence that Kalmar service team will keep our terminal in optimal shape. Henry Ford has said – coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
