An infographic released by the Port of Long Beach in honour of Earth Day, which took place on Thursday April 24th, 2015, shows its ‘Green Port Policy’ for ensuring that it becomes one of the greenest ports globally.

The Green Port Policy has been in operation for around ten years, and under the policy around 99% of cargo ships calling at the port slow down to 12 knots in order to significantly reduce emissions.

300 or more species of marine animals and more than 60 species of fish inhabit the area surrounding the port as a result of its drive to be an eco-friendly entity.
