A fire has recently broken out Rumo sugar and grain terminal at the Port of Santos in Brazil, which restricted operations, according to Reuters.
The fire reportedly took place at one of its conveyors belts at Rumo’s warehouse XX to XXII.
Operations were partially affected, with the blaze able to be controlled in an hour. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
PTI previously reported that an explosion had taken place at the Port of Santos after a fire broke at a container terminal within the port, which was caused by a chemical explosion.
The blaze at Rumo is the second of its kind reported by PTI, after a fire occurred within a sugar terminal in 2014, which did not contain any casualties.
Despite these incidents, the Port of Santos recently saw an increase in its productivity after the establishment of two productivity records.
This included the 206 moves per hour (MPH) which was set while handling 1,980 containers from the 6,328 TEU capacity MSC Geneva.
