Her Majesty Queen Beatrix Wilhemina Armgard of the Netherlands, as part of her state visit to the UAE, was welcomed as a guest of honor by DP World Chairman, HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, at the company’s flagship Jebel Ali Port in Dubai this week.

The visit enabled the pair to discuss the expanding investment and trade relations binding the UAE and the Netherlands.

DP World is currently developing a new container terminal at Maasvlakte 2 in the Port of Rotterdam.

“DP World is privileged and honored to welcome Her Majesty Queen Beatrix Wilhemina Armgard and members of the royal delegation to Jebel Ali Port,” declared Bin Sulayem.

“The UAE and the Netherlands have enjoyed enduring two-way trade flow for decades and we believe that DP World’s partnership with the Port of Rotterdam in the Maasvlakte 2 project will further enhance these bilateral relations.”

Under a concession signed in 2007, a consortium consisting of DP World, Mitsui OSK Lines, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Neptune Orient Lines and CMA CGM agreed to develop and operate the first terminal at Rotterdam’s Maasvalakte 2.

When completed, the DP World terminal will boast a 1,900-meter long deep sea quay with a depth of 20 meters, enabling the facility to handle the next generation of mega container vessels.

In addition, it will have a 550-meter quay for inland shipping and feeder vessels.

The royal delegation included HRH the Heir Apparent, Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, HRH Princess Maxima, HE Gerard Michels, the Dutch Ambassador to the UAE accompanied by HE Reem Al Hashimi, UAE Minister of State.
