  • ISO 28000 is an independently audited certification

DP World, the Dubai-based terminal operator, has achieved a major security milestone with DP World Tarragona achieving ISO 28000 certification.

DP World Tarragona, located in the Catalan region of northeastern Spain, becomes the 40th DP World facility to receive the independently audited award.

The ISO 28000 standard sets out mechanisms and process to address security vulnerabilities at strategic and operational levels, as well as establishing preventive action plans.

“Securing the ISO 28000 certification is the latest of our initiatives to consistently deliver superior services to our customers,” said Oscar Rodriguez, General Manager at DP World Tarragona.

“DP World Tarragona serves a significant industrial hinterland and provides a crucial gateway and supply chain hub for customers wanting to access the surrounding Catalan region and on to Madrid. In turn, DP World Tarragona connects Spain’s vast market to the Mediterranean region and beyond,” added Rodriguez.

The certification comes barely a year after the successful completion of Phase 1 of expansion works at Tarragona. The Spanish facility is now capable of receiving vessels with a capacity of up to 13,800 TEU.
