In a bid to free the 19,100 TEU China Shipping Container Line (CSCL) Indian Ocean, which recently ran aground while approaching the Port of Hamburg, emergency crews are currently using the alignment of the stars to free the stranded mega-ship, according to Bloomberg.

13 tugboats will be deployed in the early hours of Tuesday February 9, 2016, when the Earth aligns with the Sun and the Moon, which is anticipated to raise water levels by around 1.2 metres above the average.

Henrik Hencke, Operations Manager at CSCL’s local unit, said: “The salvage company is very optimistic they will manage to free the vessel.”

Mr Hencke added that the ship ran aground as a result of a failure of the ship’s rudder system.

The ship is holding mostly shoes and chemicals from China and Malaysia and is currently carrying 11,800 standard boxes.
