Terminal Container Ravenna (TCR), the Adriatic gateway terminal for Italian container terminal operator Contship Italia, is celebrating the successful implementation of new equipment by Liebherr Maritime Cranes after spending more than US$ 28 million on a ship to shore (STS) crane and three rail mounted gantry cranes (RMGs).

With this new package, TCR has set the aim of increasing the terminal handling ability to new standards to face the demands of the market with growing ship sizes and find new and improved economies of scale.

TCR's delivery of the new STS (pictured above) marks the completion of its quayside upgrade plan which started in 2015.

The STS is capable of working over 18 rows across and capable of lifting 60 tons.

TCR has claimed that the berth now hosts four of the “most modern and technological cranes” as they are able to work on ships that are up to 43 metres wide.

The installation of the three new RMG cranes took place in Q1 of 2017, doubling the equipment dedicated to rail operations and improving yard capacity by 66%.
