AAPA announces award winners

Winners have been announced for the American Association of Port Authorities(AAPA) 2014 Environmental Improvement and Information Technology awards.

This year’s IT Awards program winner is the Port of Los Angeles with its “Cyber Security Operations Centre” entry, and the winner of the 2014 Environmental Improvement Awards is the Port of Portland for its “Environmental Initiatives at Seaports Worldwide: A Snapshot of Best Practices” entry.

The winner of the 2014 Environmental Improvement Awards’ Environmental Enhancement category is the Georgia Ports Authority for its entry in “Voluntary Diesel Reduction through Investment in Equipment.”

The winner of AAPA’s 2014 Environmental Improvement Awards’ Mitigation category is PortTampa Bay, with its successful project, “McKay Bay Restoration.”

Winning the 2014 Environmental Improvement Awards’ Comprehensive Environmental Managementtitle is the Port of Tacoma with its entry “Biofiltration: West Hylebos Log Yard.”

In other news, AAPA will feature two seminar topics that are currently trending in the seaport industry. First is its “Maritime Economic Development Energy Projects Seminar” on February 24-25, 2015 in Pensacola, Florida, and the second is its “Cybersecurity Seminar” on March 11-12, 2015 in Savannah, Georgia.
