DockAlert - Vessel Approach Monitoring

Vessel approach monitoring provides real-time data on speed, distance off and drift off as a vessel approaches its mooring. A high accuracy system that increases during the critical approach phase and provides alarms in the event the vessel moves outside pre-set parameters. The system uses two eye-safe lasers to measure the distance of the bow and stern relative to the jetty and relays data to the jetty control room and hand held pagers on ship, or to a large digit display mounted on the jetty.

DockAlert System Benefits:
•   Protects jetty infrastructure by facilitating a smooth and gentle berth
•   Enables larger vessels to dock without undertaking expensive infrastructure modifications
•   Improves vessel 'turn around' times
•   Improves safety
•   Provides evidence in the event of a dispute between the jetty operator and ship owner following a collision

MoorAlert – Mooring Load Monitoring

Provides an accurate indication of mooring loads in multi-line mooring spreads and enables each mooring line to be pre-tensioned according to each vessel’s individual mooring scheme. These loads are measured by strain gauged load measuring pins installed in the quick release mooring hooks. Provides alarms should tensions exceed pre-set limits.

MoorAlert System Benefits:
•   Maintains safe and efficient mooring line tension
•   Ensures safety of personnel whilst vessel is moored
•   Protects jetty equipment and infrastructure

This combines the best technology available into a single integrated jetty management system to provide a user-friendly interface for operators with clear displays of data.  Advanced information and data logging capabilities give real-time analysis of load, drift-off and environmental conditions to ensure jetty safety, whatever the stresses and weather conditions.
In addition to the functions above, the system provides outputs in a number of formats and protocols to enable easy and seamless interfacing. This allows the BerthManager jetty management system to integrate in facility management networks, ESD and ship to shore communication systems.

BerthManager Benefits:
•   Provides a major contribution to jetty safety
•   Improves docking and mooring efficiency and provides commercial benefits
•   Can be designed in or retrofitted as part of a basic upgrade
•   Enhances ship to shore communications

Tow Load Monitoring Benefits:
•   Allows vessels to be towed safely under severe working conditions
•   Enables the towing line to be released under full safe working load
•   Gives vessel masters a direct reading of tension in the towing hawser
•   Protects vessel and personnel

They can be either retrofitted to existing cranes or to new cranes. Each crane weighing and overload system comprises a load cell to sense the load and an amplifier with trip relays which can be used to stop the lift or set off alarms.

Crane Weighing & Overload Monitoring Benefits:
•   Protects crane against overload
•   No crane modifications needed
•   Suitable for use in harsh environments
•   No reduced height of lift
•   Can be used as a simple alternative to a platform weigher

Loading Arm Position Monitoring

Our loading arm position monitoring system uses sensors incorporated into the loading arms to monitor their position to ensure that they are used within their operational envelopes. Should the loading arms be operated outside their defined scope, it is possible that during loading/unloading the seals may be damaged and allow spillage of the cargo.
The sensors transmit data to a display in the jetty control room that shows the loading arm position in real-time. Colour coded operational ranges (green, amber and red) give a clear indication of their position relative to their safe working envelope. Should they operate outside of pre-defined limits, the system generates both visual and audible alarms to alert operational personnel. The system also incorporates historic and event data. Product transfer rates can also be incorporated.

Loading Arm Position Monitoring Benefits:
•   Provides real-time displays of loading arm position
•   Improves jetty safety
•   Prevents loading arm damage

Strain Rings

Strain rings are attached to steel structures to measure the levels of strain they are being subjected to. They are ideal for retrofitting to existing structures where load cells would be difficult to fit. Highly accurate and easy to install and remove, above and sub-sea versions are available. The strain rings produce an electrical signal based on the amount of tension detected, which is converted to a load value by Strainstall intrinsically safe amplifiers and displayed on a local digital panel meter and/or transmitted to a control room PC display.

Strain Ring Benefits:
•    Simple to install new or retrofitted
•    Large ± linear strain range
•    Highly accurate
•    Bespoke solutions that meet the very specific customer requirements
•    Long-term, reliable operation
•    Sub sea version suitable for prolonged immersion in depth of up to 100m

Towing Hooks

Quick Release Towing Hooks enable ships to be towed safely under severe working conditions. The towing hooks have a quick release mechanism that allows the towing line to be instantaneously disengaged under full load to ensure the safety of the tug and personnel. The hook can be released from the wheel house by pulling the release wire or by pushing a button.  At full safe working load it is possible to release the towing hooks manually, requiring a load of approximately 15kg.

Remote control systems can be supplied with either a hydraulic or pneumatic release mechanism. An accurate load monitoring system can also be incorporated into the towing hooks.

Towing Hook Benefits:
•   Allows vessels to be towed safely under severe working conditions
•   Enables the towing line to be released under full safe working load
•   Allows towing line to be instantaneously disengaged

Rugged Foot Switch

The patented rugged foot switch is ideally suited for use in harsh marine and offshore environments. It is unique as it has no moving parts, so its function is unaffected by exposure to weather, salt, water and other abrasive materials.

Load is applied to an element in the normal way which causes stress, and the resulting strain is sensed by strain gauges. The electrical signal from the strain gauges is monitored, and when a pre-defined applied load is reached, a signal passes to a trip level to provide switch function.

Benefits of Rugged Foot switch:
•   Maintenance free for life
•   Exceptional reliability in the most severe environments
•   Ideal for antimicrobial environments
•   ‘Plug and play’ design can be retrofitted to any existing foot switch installation
•   Can be pressure or steam cleaned
•   Heavy duty and robust
