Oct 13, 2008 PD Ports Business Development Manager, Kim Catterick, introduced
Following her successful September trip to India and a recent BBC Radio Scotland interview regarding PD Ports’ business developments in Scotland, the company is pleased to introduce Kim Catterick.
Kim, who has already been making great strides for PD Ports as the Business Development Manager – Containers joined the company in April 2008.

Since her appointment, Kim has been focused on strengthening the relationship between PD Ports and its existing customers at both the Hull and Teesport container handling facilities. Kim has also been forging new business links that will provide PD Ports with significant future growth prospects. As a member of PD Ports’ ‘Northern Gateway’ project team, Kim is closely involved in the further business development of the Northern Gateway Container Terminal (NGCT), a new £300 million deep sea container terminal to be built on the company’s site at Teesport in the North East of England.

Kim brings with her 25+ years working experience with a short sea shipping company, (now known as Samskip), where she gained specialised knowledge in both operations and business development. During her long career, Kim has dealt effectively with a variety of commercial operations and has been influential in developing sustained business plans. She achieved a NVQ level 4 in management and has recently become a member of the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (CILT).

Kim lives close to the Humber Estuary and, like her husband, has a long-held interest in all things maritime.

Intermodal transportation: The next wave?Holidays are almost over, for those lucky enough to go on vacation. I spent my time away from the sea, and well above sea level. Just for reassurance. As you might know, the majority of Dutch grounds are below sea level (about 65%), and we keep dry feet by pumping water. Without that, we would build our sandcastle around "Amersfoort at the Sea" (a city some 80km inland). However, spending time in the Alps, some 800m above sea level, my rectangular box driven mind did not come to a complete standstill, wondering about hinterland transportation.
