Sep 07, 2009 GAC appoints new Marine Representative at GAC Brazil GAC, the world’s leading shipping, logistics and marine services company today announced the appointment of Captain Robert Olsson as the Marine Representative at GAC Logistica do Brasil Ltda.

Based in Rio de Janeiro, he will be responsible for supporting and driving the growth of its shipping, marine and oil & gas services in Brazil.

“This new appointment is part of GAC’s strategy to strengthen our presence in Brazil and we are pleased that Robert has agreed to take up this new challenge.” says Lars Heisselberg, Vice President, Americas. “He has a great understanding and experience of the maritime industry and I am confident that his competence and expertise will prove extremely valuable to the growing needs of our clients in the region.”

Prior to this new appointment, Captain Olsson was the General Manager for GAC Shipping (USA) Inc based in Philadelphia and in charge of nationwide port agency operations in North America. He brings more than a decade of shipping and maritime industry experience where he was exposed to diverse aspects of the business, from maritime operations in ship supplies, car carrier, to cruise and oil & gas.  




Intermodal transportation: The next wave?Holidays are almost over, for those lucky enough to go on vacation. I spent my time away from the sea, and well above sea level. Just for reassurance. As you might know, the majority of Dutch grounds are below sea level (about 65%), and we keep dry feet by pumping water. Without that, we would build our sandcastle around "Amersfoort at the Sea" (a city some 80km inland). However, spending time in the Alps, some 800m above sea level, my rectangular box driven mind did not come to a complete standstill, wondering about hinterland transportation.
New Strategy & Development Director appointed at Dunkerque PortJean-Frédéric Laurent has just been appointed Strategy and Development Director of Dunkerque Port, replacing Pierre Joly on his retirement. He is 41.
