Apr 25, 2008 ‘It’s Criminal’ - LA Marine host two free seminars LA Marine team are holding two free seminars aimed at vessel owners, charterters and operators, insurers and P&I claim managers for both commercial shipping and the yachting and leisure marine industries.

Russell Kelly, Partner of the LA Marine team will be discussing the authorities’ power to detain vessels and prosecute owners and crew for breaches of the Merchant Shipping Regulations. The seminar will also look at consideration of typical offences and penalties and an explanation and comments on how to respond if your vessel is investigated or detained.

The seminars are from 5:30pm to 7:00pm and include refreshments to be held at LA’s offices in Southampton and London as follows:

Tuesday 6 May, 5:30pm to 7:00pm – Lester Aldridge, Alleyn House, Carlton Crescent, Southampton

Thursday 22nd May, 5:30pm to 7:00pm – Lester Aldridge, Kildare House, London

Intermodal transportation: The next wave?Holidays are almost over, for those lucky enough to go on vacation. I spent my time away from the sea, and well above sea level. Just for reassurance. As you might know, the majority of Dutch grounds are below sea level (about 65%), and we keep dry feet by pumping water. Without that, we would build our sandcastle around "Amersfoort at the Sea" (a city some 80km inland). However, spending time in the Alps, some 800m above sea level, my rectangular box driven mind did not come to a complete standstill, wondering about hinterland transportation.
